OKLAHOMA CITY—APRIL 3, 2019—A total of 175 state-bred 2-year-olds has been entered in this weekend’s Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity (RG2) trials at Remington Park.

Twenty-two 330-yard trials will be contested, 11 on Friday and 11 on Saturday. Post time for the first race both nights is set for 6 p.m. (CDT).

Friday’s trials are headed by Lady Six Sky and Tres Of Hero, a pair of recent maiden winners. Lady Six Sky is a homebred daughter of Valiant Hero trained by Mike Robbins for owner Reliance Ranches LLC, and the brown filly made her debut with a half-length victory in a 250-yard maiden-special-weight dash on March 16.

Lady Six Sky drew post 6 and will be ridden by Stormy Smith in Friday’s ninth trial.

Tres Of Hero is trained by Jimmy Padgett for owner Top Roustabouts and Backhoe Service. A $57,000 purchase at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale, the gelded son of champion Tres Seis is coming off of a wire-to-wire, nose victory in a 250-yard maiden-special-weight race on March 16.

Jose Alvarez will ride Tres Of Hero from post 8 in the 10th heat.

Always Charging is one of 88 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s trials. A homebred Coronado Cartel gelding trained by Mike Robbins for owner Reliance Ranches LLC, Always Charging will be stretching out off of his fourth-place run, two lengths behind winner EC Revenge, in the 300-yard, $397,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G2) on March 23.

Always Charging drew the rail post and will be ridden by Stormy Smith in Saturday’s ninth heat.

Dustin R. Cox’s Jay Number 7, a homebred son of Im A Fancy Pyc, is coming off of a half-length win in one of the fastest 250-yard maiden-special-weight races of the meet, as the brown gelding stopped the timer in :13.22 in his career debut. Jay Number 7 drew post 3 and will be ridden by Juan Pulido for trainer Samuel Valdivia in the seventh trial.

The top five qualifiers from Friday and Saturday’s trials will meet in the April 20, $270,000-added Remington Park Futurity final.
