GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—OCTOBER 11, 2018—We will just call Friday (Oct. 12) "Fantastic Friday!" We have live Mariachi’s performing, Arabian Horses racing, colorful Paint and Appaloosa horses racing for the fastest time and the second 100-yard dash in the Friday Night Lights Gridiron Challenge Series. Gates open for all of the fun at 5 p.m.

Post time for the first of the 12-race program begins at 6:05 p.m. General Admission is $5 and General Parking is free.

Mariachi San Luis and Mariachi Juvenil Orgulla Mexicano will be performing live in the Courtyard of Champions, plus each will perform the “Call to the Post” for a race in the winner’s circle.

The live racing program kicks off with Arabians in race 1. It’s for maidens going 6-½ furlongs on the main track. Post time is 6:05 p.m.

Races 4 & 5 are trials to the Grade 1, $50,000 Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity. The 10 horses with the fastest times from these trials earn a berth into the final. The final will be held here on Saturday, October 27.

Roy Kent Perkins’ Rp Live Wire Dash (APHA) in race 4 has seven wins, three of those in grade 1 events, and two seconds from nine starts so far in his young career.

The gelded son of Crm Livewire has earned $174,785 to date. His most recent was the Grade 1, $81,600 Pot O Gold Futurity at Will Rogers Downs last month, and in July, the Grade 1, $98,200 Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Futurity at Fair Meadows.

His trainer Ray Enlow appears to be doing everything right. Jockey Gonzalo Gutierrez who has been aboard for every start will have the mount again.

In race 5, Appaloosa gelding Lota White Sox is coming fresh from winning the Cricket Bar Futurity last month at Will Rogers. The youngster is by Quarter Horse sire Lota Pyc. Matthew Cody McCart trains for owner E. Bruce Miller. Paul Nieto will ride.

The Featured 11th race is the second qualifier 100-yard race in the Friday Night Lights Gridiron Challenge Series.

The first qualifier on Friday, September 28 was to split to accommodate all the entrants. The third and last qualifying leg is Friday, October 26.

The Gridiron Challenge final will be Friday, November 9. Horses finishing first and second in the series qualifiers automatically advance the final. These 100-yard sprints are so much fun to watch, but you’d better be ready because from start to finish only takes about 6 seconds.
