Country Boy 123 Looks To Extend Streak in $84,800 Alex Picov Memorial Championship

AJAX, ONT—OCTOBER 7, 2018—The biggest racing day of the Ajax Downs Quarter Horse season, Thanksgiving Monday (Oct. 8) is sure to be the most exciting of the 2018 meeting.

Two-time Horse of the Year Country Boy 123 tops a field of seven in the $84,800 Alex Picov Memorial Championship, seeking to remain undefeated this year. The flashy 5-year-old Country Chicks Man gelding coming off his second track-record setting win of the season, has won all six of his races in 2018 for owner and trainer Ruth Barbour and regular rider Cory Spataro, from Innisfil, ONT.

This will be Country Boy 123's final Canadian start of the year before venturing to Indiana Downs later this month for a run against top US older horses in the Indiana Championship on Oct. 27.

Monday's huge 10-race card also includes the richest race of the season, the $99,700 Alex Picov Memorial Futurity for 2-year-olds.

The first 100 kids at the track Monday will receive a pumpkin to decorate (and watch out for the Headless Horseman as he could make an appearance!).

Fans will have a chance to win prizes including a collection of Country Boy 123 memorabilia.

And fans wagering on-track will receive three-times the points through their Ajax Rewards card (points can be cashed in for vouchers) and signing up for a card is free.

Post time for first race Monday is 12:55 p.m.
