Second Day Across-the-Board Increases Continue In Louisiana - CORRECTED

KINDER, LA—AUGUST 3, 2018—Horsemen in Louisiana focused their energy on the 260 state-bred yearlings offered in today's second session of the 2018 LQHBA Yearling Sale, setting second day sale records for gross sales, average and median price compared to day 2 last year.

Of the 387 yearlings offered in the first two sessions, 305 sold for a total of $4,365,300, up 48% from last year's $2,952,800 for 260 horses sold. The average price through two-sessions is $14,312, up 26% from last year's $11,357. The first two session's median price rose to $8,200, which is up 9% from the $7,500 second day median in 2017.

"Our numbers continued very strong on Day 2," LQHBA Executive Director Tony Patterson said Friday evening. "We look forward to Saturday’s session and wish everyone the very best of luck tomorrow."

TM Ranch purchased Friday's high-seller Hip 397 RDD Empire Builder for $83,000. Twin Oaks Farm of Lafayette, Agent for Richard Dale Domingue consigned the a href='show_stallion.asp?horse=806'>Jet Black Patriot colt out of a winning sister champion Carters Cartel, by Corona Cartel. The second dam is the champion 2-year-old filly Jumping Tac Flash, dam of four stakes winners.

Hip 163 Sir Ec Gray, a half-brother to champion Open Me A Corona was the second high-seller on Friday for $75,000. Harlow Stables purchased the son of multiple stakes sire Sir Runaway Dash from the Mr Eye Opener mare In The Open. Blanchet Farms, LLC Agent for Montgomery Equine Center consigned the gray colt.

TM Ranch also purchased the third high-seller on Friday, Hip 293 Heza Dashin Dude for $71,00 from JLA Farms, Agent. The colt by leading sire Heza Fast Dash is out of the track-record setting Easy Winning Jet mare Winning Web. The second dam is a multiple stakes producing half-sister to Remington Park Derby winner Fabulous Figure.

Scott and Monica Jones paid $55,000 for Hip 282 Scooping Up Coronas the fourth high-seller in Friday's session. J/B Racing consigned the brother to RG3 winner Scoopie Leaving You. The brown colt is by champion sire Coronas Leaving You from the stakes-placed Toast To Dash mare Ms Scoopies Toast. This is the family of leading sire Mr Jess Perry.

Paragon Farms who kicked off the sale Thursday night by paying a record $200,000 for Jess A Fast Rogue, purchased four additional yearlings on Friday to lead all buyers through two days with five head grossing $287,000. TM Ranch also bought 5 yearlings for $234,700 and Benny and Terri Jeter paid $130,000 for two head.

Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent is the sales' leading consignor or agent through two sessions with 16 head for $244,200. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Triple M Farms, LLC is the second leading consignor with three head for $243,700, J/B Racing has sold 12 head for $185,000 and Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Simmons Racing had four head for $185,000.

Heza Fast Dash led all sires through two days (by average, two or more sold) with 16 yearlings averaging $40,975. Game Patriot had four for $28,050 and Jess Louisiana Blue sold 28 for $23,450 average.

Apollitical Blood led first-crop sale sires through two days (by average, two or more sold) with 10 yearlings averaging $18,840. Paint Me Perry had three for $18,500 and Heza Fast Rogue had 11 yearlings average $11,091.
