SHAKOPEE, MN—JULY 5, 2018—First Of 15 will look for her fourth consecutive win in the $78,450 Canterbury Park Derby on Sunday, July 8. The fastest qualifier from three trials on June 24 is the 5-2 morning line favorite after winning her trial as well as the $34,000 Gopher State Derby, also at Canterbury Park, on June 9.

First Of 15 will be ridden again by Cristian Esqueda for Jason Olmstead and owner Richard Tobin. She has earned over $105,000 in her career, including a second-place finish in the $317,000 Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby in April. Bred by James and Marilyn Helzer, she is out of the Corona Cartel mare Tinys Corona Queen and is a full sister to graded stakes winner Lynnder 16.

The second and third place finishers in the Gopher State Derby, Painted Dynasty and Marfilmio, also return in the Canterbury Park Derby; Painted Dynasty draws next to First Of 15 with Denny Velazquez riding for trainer Jason Olmstead and owner Tom Scheckel.

Painted Dynasty was bred in Oklahoma by Michael Teel out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Tygers Painted Girl, a half-sister to the dam of multiple stakes winner AJs High. The FDD Dynasty filly posted the second fastest qualifying time to the Sunday’s final.

A Jordon Reed finished second to Painted Dynasty in their trial and may get more attention on the tote board as the 2017 champion of the $167,600 Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity. From Canterbury, A Jordon Reed shipped south to Prairie Meadows and won the $289,000 Valley Junction Futurity.

Berkley Packer has the call for Ed Ross Hardy and the Kendrix Brothers. The Oklahoma homebred is by Jumpn Chic and is out of the Corona for Me mare Parr for Me. With $228,043 in earnings, A Jordon Reed brings significant backclass to Sunday’s field of 3-year-olds.

Available at a bit of a price is Eagle Deluxe, with Nakia Ramirez up for the Olmstead barn. Owned by Tom and Bill Maher and Movin On, and bred by Grant Farms LLC, Eagle Deluxe won the Mystic Lake Northlands Juvenile last year as well as the NCQHRA Futurity, ran fourth in the Valley Junction, and as a 3-year-old, qualified for the Heritage Place Derby (G3).

Eagle Deluxe is by One Famous Eagle and is out of the Corona Cartel mare Corona Deluxe.
