OKLAHOMA CITY, OK-MARCH 1, 2018-- A program of 12 races, featuring two stakes events and full fields, has been compiled for the 2018 Opening Night of the American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park.

A total of 119 horses will compete, a per race average of 9.92, over the dozen events with only the Grade 2, $50,000 Eastex Stakes not carrying a full allotment of 10 starters. The Eastex drew nine to contend the 350-yard test.

The total purse money on the 12-race program stands at $310,900. The Eastex Stakes and the $65,500 Mighty Deck Three Stakes for Oklahoma-breds are the two richest races on the night.

The Eastex, race 11 on Friday, features top older horses including many stakes winners. Bruce Allmty is already a stakes winner in 2018, having won the $50,000 KOFX-FM Handicap at Sunland Park in New Mexico on Jan. 27.

Owned by Adrian Cano of Wichita, Kan. and trained by Fernando Carrete, the son of multiple stakes sire Ivory James will be ridden by Roberto Meraz, Jr.

Tough To Bee, winner of the $1,000,000 Ruidoso Derby at Ruidoso Downs, N.M. in June last year, has also entered.

Owned by Paragon Farms of Conroe, Texas and trained by Trey Wood, Ricky Ramirez will be up. The 4-year-old son of leading sire Apollitical Jess also won the $100,000 First Down Dash Stakes at Ruidoso Downs last year as well as the Mr Master Bug Handicap at Remington Park in April.

Multiple graded stakes winner AJs High leads the entries for the Mighty Deck Three(RG3), for older Oklahoma-breds at the short distance of 250 yards. AJs High is approaching a million dollars in career earnings, entering Friday night with $824,692.

Owned by Michael Teel of Columbia, Mo., AJs High is trained by Charley Hunt and will be ridden by Stormy Smith.

The now 6-year-old Apollitical Jess gelding was most recently third in the Grade 1, $750,000 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos in southern California in Dec. 2017.

The 2018 American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season at Remington Park starts with a weekend of activity Friday, March 9 thru Sunday, March 11. The first race on Opening Night, March 9 is at 6pm. The first race on Saturday, March 10 starts at 4pm. Sunday action on March 11 is underway at 1:30pm.

The Remington Park season will continue thru June 2 with a total of 50 race dates scheduled.
