Nine To Face Off In Terrific Energy Saturday At Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, CA--MARCH 1, 2018--After beating eight tough distaffers in the Denim N Diamonds Handicap on February 17, Strawfinders Jessee is ready to do it again when she takes on eight new and mostly younger rivals in the $18,000 Terrific Energy Overnight Handicap on Saturday night at Los Alamitos.

The Terrific Energy is the eighth final race on the card which is set to start at 6 p.m. The Terrific Energy is set for 9:16 p.m.

Owned by C.K. and Laurel Allen, Strawfinders Jessee has never faced any of the mares in this group before in a stakes race, but she'll certainly be tested as she'll be taking on La Pacifica Handicap winner Staggering Stride and Jess Hawk, who enters after running a tremendous third to the outstanding BH Lisas Boy in the Grade 1 Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship on February 11.

Strawfinders Jessee comes into Saturday's race in terrific form. She was dominant in the Denim N Diamonds when taking the lead shortly after the start on the way to posting a length victory. She had previously finished third in the Grade 1 Charger Bar Handicap against Kiddy Up Cowgirl and Thermonuclear Energy, who are two of the top mares on the grounds.

Strawfinders Jessee is not too far behind that elite group. She'll look to add another star to her record with Cesar De Alba aboard for trainer John Cooper. The One Sweet Jess mare will start from the outside post nine.

Kirk Goodfellow, who campaigned the superstar Catchmeinyourdreams, recently purchased the talented Staggering Stride, who will make her 2018 debut while racing from post one in the Terrific Energy.

The Mr Jess Perry mare has hit the board in 13 of 19 career starts and that includes a third place finish in last year's La Primera Del Ano Derby. EG High Desert Farms' Jess Hawk (above) was third against the top males in the Brad McKinzie at 22-1 odds. A repeat of that effort will make her tough to beat on Saturday.

Six other mares will race in the Terrific Energy.
