Blink Of An Eye Handicap Heads Friday's Card At Los Alamitos - No Live Racing At Los Alamitos On Sat

LOS ALAMITOS, CA-JANUARY 29, 2018-Grade 1 caliber stakes runners Renewed and Maggie Durant will take on recent 100-yard winners Im Leonidas and Snowy Coronitas in a wide open running of the Blink Of An Eye Stakes on Friday at Los Alamitos.

The Blink Of An Eye will be contested at 100 yards, which gives on-track an opportunity to get and up close view of the great sounds and sights of the loading into the starting gate of a Quarter Horse race. The card also features a Pick 6 Carryover of $3,586. First post is 7 p.m. with the Pick 6 starting in race three.

Fans are reminded that Los Alamitos will not have live racing on Saturday and Sunday night. Los Alamitos will be open for simulcasting of Australian racing and Cal Expo harness on Saturday. The track will be dark on Super Bowl Sunday night. Live night racing will resume on Friday, February 9.

Los Alamitos, which conducts year-round racing, will close the track for renovation after morning works on February 3rd and will reopen the track on Thursday morning, February 8.

Owned by Kolleen Ledgerwood and trained by Roberto Dominguez, Renewed enjoyed a solid sophomore campaign in 2017. The Walk Thru Fire horse qualified to three major derbies in the process and was second in the Grade 3 PCQHRA Breeders Derby. He also qualified to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby, Grade 2 Southern California Derby, Restricted Grade 3 Governor's Cup Derby.

Spackman Racing and Lin Melton's Maggie Durant won the California Breeders Matron Stakes at 400 yards and most recently beat the males in a 100 yards dash.

This is a strong overall field with six of the eight sprinters having won multiple races last year.
