PORTLAND, OR—NOVEMBER 24, 2017— Perhaps the most attractive race program of the Portland Meadows live race season thus far will be conducted on Sunday. The $25,000 added Fall Challenge will headline the card that will also offer The McFadden Starter Handicap, the Detroit Lake Stakes, the Mike "Spanky" LeClair Memorial and the namesake Mary Goldblatt Starter Handicap.

However, the first two races on Sunday will spotlight Oregon-bred two-year-old Quarter Horses in The Baxter Andruss Futurity trials.

CM Boom Shakalaka won the Juvenile Challenge at Emerald Downs last August and carries the favored role into the first trial event of the day for Trainer Nick Lowe with Luis Gonzalez to handle the reins.

The two year old son of Carters Cartel returns West after facing the nation’s best at Prairie Meadows in The 2017 Juvenile Challenge Finals where he placed fifth.

L Bar D Classic Trip returns to the Pacific Northwest for trainer Hector Magallanes with Jockey Eduardo Sosa to pilot. The two-year-old son of Mr Nightlinger (TB) won his trial heat for The Wildwest Futurity at Los Alamitos but was DQ’d in the final from seventh to tenth in the 350 yard dash worth $129,000.

In the second and final trial of the day, L Bar D Razle Dazle is a standout favorite with Jake Samuels to guide the two-year-old son of Ragazzo after an impressive win in The Far West Futurity at Portland Meadows.

Trained by Hector Magallanes, L Bar D Razle Dazle will look to keep his win streak alive at Portland after winning his first br> Jockey Kevin Orozco won six races on the program last Tuesday in The Rose City. It marks the third time this month he has won half the races or more on the card. The record is seven wins on a single race program at Portland Meadows. Orozco is riding between Golden Gate Fields and Portland Meadows during the seasons that run the same time of the year but usually on different days of the week.
