RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 19, 2017—An Apollitical Jess foal-in-utero from the Grade 1 winner and producer First Carolina was the high seller in the inaugural Ruidoso Select Foal-In-Utero Sale at Ruidoso Downs Saturday night.
Leading owner and past AQHA President Johnny Trotter paid $70,000 for an expected February 2018 foal from Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity winner First Carolina by Mr Jess Perry. The foal will be a half-sibling to Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Ms First Prize Rose, Remington Park Futurity winner Coronado Cartel and Rainbow Juvenile winner Denver Pass. William E. Smith was the consignor.
Twenty-one of the 26 foal-in-utero's offered grossed $621,500 for a $29,595 average. The median price was $27,000.
Henry Southway was the sale's leading buyer with two purchased totaling $89,000. Ray Willis had three for $80,000 and Johnny Trotter had the one for $70,000.
Rafter W Stables was the leading consignor with three head grossing $129,000. Crystal Springs Farm, Agent sold three for $93,000 and Zerlotti Genetics had four for $92,000.
