Four Stakes on Remington’s Holiday Docket

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 28, 2017—Sherry Gilmore’s Ima China Rush, a graded stakes winner during the meet, is one of 10 Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds entered in Monday’s 330-yard, $61,800 FL Lady Bug Stakes (R) at Remington Park.

A homebred daughter of the Agouti stallion Rushago trained by Guillermo Valdivia, Ima China Rush has earned $227,310 from three outs this season, and her two wins include a half-length victory as the 17-10 favorite in the 300-yard, $525,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G3) on March 25. The filly drew post 7 and will be ridden by Larry Payne.

Ima China Rush’s nine opponents include The Only Knockout, a bay filly by Apollitical Jess trained by Jose Ibarra for owner Five Puig Racing LLC. The only Knockout is coming off of a fourth-place finish, one-length behind winner La Vencedora, in the April 22, 330-yard Remington Park Futurity (RG2) for Oklahoma-bred juveniles.

The Only Knockout drew post 4 and will be ridden by Agustin Silva.

Easy Date Stakes

Gary W. Harstack’s First Prize Diamonds will risk her three-race win streak in Monday’s 350-yard, $61,800 Easy Date Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-bred distaffers.

A 4-year-old daughter of champion Carters Cartel trained by John Weghorst, First Prize Diamonds is coming off of a half-length victory in her season debut, the 350-yard, $50,000 Decketta Stakes (G3) on April 1. The mare drew post 4 and will be ridden by James Flores.

Sudden Separation, the runner-up in the Decketta, drew post 6 and will be ridden by Berkley Packer for owner Duane Murphy and trainer Larry Sharp. A homebred 6-year-old Inseperable mare, Sudden Separation has earned $253,816 from 24 starts.

Valiant Rogue, a 4-year-old son of Valiant Hero trained by Judd Kearl for owner Wyok Ranch LLC, drew post 5 for Monday’s 400-yard, $61,800 Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes (R). An earner of $650,602 from 16 starts, the gelding is coming off of a fourth-place finish, three-quarters of a length behind winner Vf Red Surprise, in the 400-yard, $100,000 Sooner State Stakes (RG1) on May 6. Rodrigo Vallejo will ride Valiant Rogue from post 5.

Also on Monday, a full field of 10 state-bred sophomores, topped by Leonardo Alcala’s As And Js, has been entered in the 350-yard, $50,000 Jack Brooks Stakes (R). A bay filly by Apollitical Jess trained by Jose Ibarra, As And Js will be shortening in distance off of her third-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Apollitical Scout, in the 400-yard, $305,000 Remington Park Derby (RG3) on April 22. As And Js drew post 3 and will be ridden by Gerardo Garrido.
