HOBBS, NM—NOVEMBER 29, 2016—Charles E. Robinson’s Imperial Eagle, a gray son of One Famous Eagle and the winner of this year’s All American Futurity (G1), is one of 12 2-year-olds entered in Sunday’s 440-yard, $200,000 Southwest Juvenile Championship (G1) at Zia Park.
A $48,000 purchase at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Imperial Eagle has earned $1,548,387 from seven outs. The gelding drew post 5 and will be ridden by Esgar Ramirez for trainer Tony Sedillo.
Other contenders include Chainman, a bay son of champion Separatist trained by Harvey Baeza for owner Benito Brito Arenivas. Chainman has banked $152,463 from five outs, and his four wins include a 1 1/4-length victory in the 400-yard, $268,000 Hobbs America Futurity (G1) at Zia Park on October 9.
Chainman drew post 9 and will be ridden by Bonifacio Quiroz.
