Gyr Jammer will face a full field in Saturday’s 400-yard, $175,700 Retama Park Derby (G3) at Retama Park.

SELMA, TX—JULY 28, 2016—Rosa Aguado’s Gyr Jammer will risk his three-race win streak from post 10 in Saturday’s 400-yard, $175,700 Retama Park Derby (G3) at Retama Park.

A sorrel son of Apollitical Jess trained by Daniel Luna and the seventh-fastest qualifier, Gyr Jammer has earned $186,805 from five races this season, and his four wins include a head victory in the 400-yard, $370,000 Heritage Place Derby (G2) at Remington Park on June 4. Raul Ramirez Jr. will ride the colt on Saturday.

Octonaut, a gelded son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash racing for Julian Gamez from the barn of trainer Rolando Almanza, drew post 7 and will be ridden by Esgar Ramirez. The fastest qualifier, Octonaut is coming off of a half-length win in the last of six trials on July 16.
