Mile High Futurity, Derby Trials Set for Friday

Mile High Futurity, Derby Trials Set for Friday

AURORA, CO—JULY 27, 2016—A total of 43 juveniles has been entered in Friday’s 400-yard Mile High Futurity trials at Arapahoe Park.

Bout Tree Fiddy, a homebred Ivory James gelding trained by Tomey Swan for owners Patrick Swan and Carry C. Allred, is coming off of a one-length victory in the July 10, 350-yard Rocky Mountain Futurity at Arapahoe. The gelding drew post 3 and will be ridden by Russell Vicchrilli in the first of five trials.

In Kuh Hoots, the winner of the June 5, 330-yard Cherry Creek Futurity (R) for Colorado-breds for owners Lisa Beauprez, Thomas Bradbury and Thomas Bradbury Jr., will be ridden by Alfredo Triana Jr. from post 6 in the third heat. A homebred son of One Dashing Eagle trained by John Hammes, the gelding has won three of four starts and has banked $60,478.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 14, $160,000-added Mile High Futurity final.

Also on Friday, Vences Quarter Horse’s Air Force Won will put his three-race win streak on the line as one of 45 sophomores entered in five 400-yard Mile High Derby trials.

A gelded son of champion Ketel Won trained by Alejandro Chavez, Air Force Won has won all three of his starts during the current Arapahoe Park meet, including the July 9, 350-yard Rocky Mountain Derby and June 4, 400-yard Adequan Arapahoe Derby Challenge. Air Force Won will be ridden by Ramiro Garcia from post 5 in the fifth heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $100,000-added Mile High Derby final on August 13.
