SELMA, TX—JULY 26, 2016—Rogelio Garza’s TLC Dale, a graded stakes winning homebred son of The Louisiana Cartel trained by Santiago Riojas Jr., is one of eight Texas-breds entered in Friday’s 400-yard, $35,000 TQHA Classic Stakes (RG3) at Retama Park.

TLC Dale returns in Texas off of his second-place finish, a neck behind winner Ivan James, in the 400-yard, $195,000 Firecracker Derby at Delta Downs in Louisiana. The gelding has earned $118,818 from five outs this season, and his four wins include a neck victory in the 400-yard, $191,000 Sam Houston Derby (G3) on April 23.

TLC Dale drew post 8 and will be ridden by Manuel Gutierrez. The gelding’s seven opponents include Jumpn Streak, a 4-year-old Jumpn Chic gelding trained by Josue Ponce for owner Ovidio M. Sandoval. Jumpn Streak will be shortening in distance off of his clear 1 3/4-length victory in the 440-yard, $20,000 Hill Country Stakes at the Gillespie County Fair on July 2

Ignacio Bustamante will ride Jumpn Streak from post 3.

TQHA 550 Stakes (R)

Jrc Callas First, a 6-year-old gelding by Winners Award racing for Brian and Dana Stroud and the 2014 world champion, drew post 5 for Friday’s 550-yard, $30,000 TQHA 550 Stakes (R).

Jrc Callas First has won all six of his outs at this distance, including the last two runnings of the TQHA 550 Stakes. His season record includes a 1 1/4-length win in the April 16, 440-yard Bank of America Sam Houston Championship Challenge (G2) at Sam Houston Race Park.

Jrc Callas First drew post 5 and will be ridden by Juan Garcia Jr.

Julio Cesar Ramirez’s Bar Struck, an 8-year-old Corona For Me stallion trained by Santiago Riojas Jr., is coming off of a head victory in the 550-yard, $15,000 Tower of the Americas Handicap at Retama Park on July 1. Bar Struck drew post 9 and will be ridden by Damian Martinez.

TQHA 250 Stakes (R)

Almada Racing’s Red Corona Warrior will be seeking his third consecutive victory in Friday’s 250-yard, $30,000 TQHA 250 Stakes (R).

A 4-year-old son of Coronas Fast Dash trained by Josue Ponce, Red Corona Warrior is coming off of wins in the 110-yard, $15,000 Texas Twister Stakes (R) at Sam Houston on April 30, and the 350-yard, $20,000 King William Handicap at Retama on July 9. The gelding drew post 10 and will be ridden by Ignacio Bustamante.

Also on Friday, a full field of eight distance specialists has been entered in the 870-yard, $20,000 Benny Pennington Memorial Stakes. Jess Twice Cash, a 6-year-old stallion by Jess Louisiana Blue owned and trained by Ty Pennington, is coming off of a fourth-place finish, 1 3/4 lengths behind winner Jessa Little Rusty, in the 870-yard, $50,000 Remington Distance Championship (G2) at Remington Park June 4.

Jess Twice Cash drew post 8 and will be ridden by Julio Rodriguez.
