PORTLAND, OR—NOVEMBER 20, 2015—Skold, a stakes-winning son of champion Separatist racing for Hayden Brothers Ranch, is one of 19 Oregon-bred juveniles entered in Monday’s 400-yard Baxter Andruss Futurity (R) trials at Portland Meadows.
Trained by Hector Magallanes, Skold has won both of his starts and has earned $12,860. The gelding is coming off of a nose victory as the 2-1 favorite in the 350-yard, $28,000 Far West Futurity at Portland Meadows on October 26.
Skold drew post 3 and will be ridden by Jake Samuels in the last of three trials.
Other contenders include Shimmie Horn, a stakes-placed Mitey Jody gelding owned and trained by Juan Leon, and Secretly Fast, a gelded son of No Secrets Here trained by John Harris for owners Dana Pettibone and Leonard Hammrich. Secretly Fast ships in from Los Alamitos, where he won a Governor’s Cup Futurity (RG2) trial in July.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from Monday’s trials will meet in the $13,000-added Baxter Andruss Futurity final on December 14.
