LOS ALAMITOS, CA— AUGUST 25, 2015—Abigail Kawananakoa’s Significant Heart, the 2014 AQHA champion aged mare, will make her second start of the year when she heads a field of eight distaffers in the $15,000 Cash For Kas Handicap Friday at Los Alamitos.

For many in this race, the Cash For Kas at 350 yards will serve as a prep race for the Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap to be held here on Sunday, September 27.

Significant Heart won the Mildred Vessels last year and she’ll look to defend her title in that race. Named in honor of the 2004 Champion of Champions winner, the Cash For Kas also represents Significant Heart’s first start since finishing third in the Grade 2 Charger Bar Handicap on January 4.

Prior to the Charger Bar, the daughter of leading sire Corona Cartel had won back-to-back stakes in the form of the Mildred Vessels and the Las Damas Handicap. Ramon Sanchez will pilot the winner of eight starts from post six for trainer Paul Jones.

Jones will also saddle Paulo Freire’s razor sharp mare Solid Connection, which was has won her last two starts in solid fashion. The daughter of leading sire Mr Jess Pery won the Dana Point Handicap in her last start and before that she outdueled the three-time stakes placed mare Bring Me Home in an allowance race.

Bring Me Home, a Stel Corona filly who was third in the Matron Stakes in her last outing, will also be in action in the Cash For Kas.
