Talented Quarter Horses In Action Tonight at Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—JUNE 28, 2015—A trio of major 2015 derby finalists will collide in Sunday’s featured $11,325 allowance at 330 yards, while stakes veterans will come together in the $12,310 fourth race and winning 2-yer-olds will see action in sixth race. First post is 5:20 p.m.

The ninth race brings a strong cast of 3-year-olds racing for honors in an allowance event. Ed Allred and Steve Burns’ Cartels Big Gun has consistently performed at a high level with his most recent start being a third place finish in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby. a full brother to champion Five Bar Cartel, the colt by Corona Cartel was second in his Winter Derby trial and also competed in the trials to the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity. Carlos Huerta will ride the Corona Cartel gelding for trainer Scott Willoughby.

The field will also include Winter Derby finalist SMS Boogie Nanu, by Brookstone Bay, and El Primero Del Ano Derby finalist Energy Cartel, by Corona Cartel, the winner of the Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes earlier this year.

Maiden Stakes runner-up Lucas Czech, Moody and El Rey Coronas will also race.

The fourth race will include the ageless Forrest Fire, El Primero finalists Cold Cartel, and the stakes placed French Fury. They’ll be in action at 350 yards.

The juveniles racing in the sixth include Colt As Ice, the winner of the season’s first race for 2-year-olds.
