OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 14, 2015—The Charm of Corona, a sorrel Corona Cartel colt and a finalist in the March 21, $410,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G2), will be seeking his first career victory in Saturday’s $70,000 Laico Bird Stakes (R) for state-breds at Remington Park.

Owned by Reliance Ranches LLC and trained by Eddie D. Willis, The Charm of Corona will be making his third career start in the 330-yard Laico Bird. The colt ran fourth, three-quarters of a length behind winner Tee Chic, in the Oklahoma Futurity.

The Charm of Corona drew post 5 and will be ridden by Jimmy D. Brooks.

Other contenders include Penny Zynda’s The Serge Protector, the lone previous stakes winner in the full field. Trained by Willis, the homebred gelded son of the Corona Cartel stallion Capo de Capi outran his 10-1 odds to score a nose victory in the 300-yard, $50,000 Oklahoma Futurity Invitational Stakes on March 21.

Jose Vega has been named to ride The Serge Protector from post 10 in the Laico Bird.
