Talented Fillies In Florentine Action On Friday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA— FEBRUARY 25, 2015—Jorge Navarro's One Prompt JJ, the winner of the $32,000 Idaho Cup Futurity last year, will look to score her first victory at Los Alamitos when she faces a group of fillies in Friday's feature event, the $15,000 Florentine Handicap at 330 yards.

Bred by Mark and Peggy Brown, One Prompt JJ was one of the top fillies in the Intermountain circuit last year after winning five of her seven starts there. The daughter of Jesse James Jr broke her maiden in her career debut when she scored a half-length victory in the second division of the Emmett Futurity. She went on to finish third in the $39,900 Knight Transportation Futurity and fourth in the Grade 3 $150,000 Bitterroot Futurity, both of which were held at Les Bois Park. One Prompt JJ's last start at Les Bois was her daylight win in the Idaho Cup.

One Prompt JJ has remained very competitive in all of her local starts. She was second in a trial to the Wild West Futurity and third to the highly regarded A Goddess Thru Fire in the Corona Chick Handicap. In her last start, she overcame a trouble start to finish fourth in a trial to the Los Alamitos Winter Derby. Cruz Mendez will pilot her in the Florentine for trainer Jose Flores.

Four of the other five fillies in the race exit the Garden Grove Handicap held on January 17.

EG High Desert Farms' The Perfect Love had the highest finish of the four in the Garden Grove. She finished in fourth place. The Hawkish filly posted a 1-½ length allowance victory back on November 29.

Its Tempting, by leading sire Tempting Dash, entered the Garden Grove with a three-race win streak, but she had very troubled trip and was never in contention while running in sixth place.

Who Is Sylvia and Laters Baby also endured very troubled trips in the Garden Grove and finished in fifth and eighth place, respectively.

Double Bar S Ranch's Jess Cuz will complete the field and will make her first start since running third in a trial to the Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes on January 31.
