HOBBS, NM--NOVEMBER 20, 2014--Stimulus, a homebred 4-year-old Mr Jess Perry gelding owned by Jerry Windham of College Station, Texas, is the 3-1 morning-line choice in the November 26, 440-yard Zia Park Quarter Horse Championship (G1).

Trained by Justin Joiner, Stimulus has won his last two races, including the 440-yard, $350,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship (G1) at Prairie Meadows on October 18. Rodrigo Vallejo will ride the gelding from post 9 in the Zia Park Championship.

Joiner will also saddle another Grade 1 winner in the full field of 10, DM Streakn Thru Fire, a 6-year-old son of Walk Thru Fire who will be making his first start since August 30, when he outran his 28-1 odds to win the 440-yard, $200,000 All American Gold Cup (G1) at Ruidoso Downs. Joe Badilla Jr. will ride the gelding from post 8 for owners Richard Sturdevant, Terry Wootan and Joe David Yates.

Other contenders include Hes Relentless, a 3-year-old colt by champion One Famous Eagle who will be seeking his first stakes victory against aged company. The 1 1/2-length winner of the October 5, 440-yard Hobbs America Derby (G3) at Zia Park, the colt races for R.D. Hubbard, Bill Maher, Tom Maher, and Johnny Cope from the barn of Jason Olmstead.

"He's an exceptional and easy horse to be around," said Olmstead of Hes Relentless. "He shows up on his day and does his deal. He's made it pretty easy."

One of the most prestigious races for older horses, the Zia Park Championship has in recent years been a qualifying stakes for the Gradr 1, 440-yard Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos. Past winners of the race include AQHA champions Ketel Won, Noconi, and Prospect To The Top.
