Cartel Rosie Returns in Black Gold Futurity Championship Trials

CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 23, 2014—Cartel Rosie, a multiple stakes winning daughter of Carters Cartel racing for Gary Hess, drew post 3 in the first of five 440-yard Black Gold Futurity Championship (RG3) trials at Will Rogers Downs on Saturday.

Trained by Brian Muse, Cartel Rosie has raced exclusively in Oklahoma and has earned $108,652 from eight starts. The filly’s five wins include victories in the October 5, $142,000 Black Gold 400 Futurity (R) at Will Rogers Downs, and the May 31, $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Invitational Stakes at Remington Park.

Daniel Torres will ride Cartel Rosie in Saturday’s trial.

Palomino Trucking Inc.’s BP Run Cartel Run will be ridden by Omar Reyes from the rail post in the third trial. A Cartel Success colt trained by Jose E. Gamez, BP Run Cartel Run is coming off of a three-quarter length victory on a sloppy track in the $150,000 Black Gold 350 Futurity (R) on September 6.

A total of 40 2-year-olds has been entered in the Black Gold Futurity Championship trials. The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $294,625-added final on November 8.
