ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 20, 2014—Terry G. Smith’s Downwiththequickness is one of 10 state-bred 3-year-olds entered back in Sunday’s 400-yard, $76,224 New Mexico State Fair Breeders’ Derby (RG3) at The Downs at Albuquerque.

The fastest qualifier, Downwiththequickness is coming off of a convincing 2 3/4-length victory in the first of two trials on September 7. The homebred gelding by Be Real Quick is trained by Tejay Smith, and he will be ridden by Alonso Rivera from post 8 in the final.

Sassy Moonflash, a gelded son of First Moonflash racing for Luis Villanueva from the barn of Umberto Belloc, drew post 9 and will be ridden by Jose Luis Enriquez. Sassy Moonflash has earned $22,234 from four outs this year, and his season record includes a second-place finish to eventual All American Derby (G1) winner Too Flash For You in the 400-yard, $45,000 New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes (RG2) at SunRay Park in May.

This year’s New Mexico State Fair Breeders’ Derby purse will be the stakes’ richest since 1992. The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments and morning-line odds—
