LETHBRIDGE, ALB—AUGUST 29, 2014—Janis D. Calton’s FDD Queens Dynasty will make her next start in Monday’s Canada Cup Derby (R) trials at the Rocky Mountain Turf Club in Lethbridge.
A gray daughter of champion FDD Dynasty trained by Kurt Calton, FDD Queens Dynasty is coming off of an upset victory in the 330-yard, $39,000 Alberta Bred Derby (R) at Northlands Park in Edmonton on August 16. Larris Allen will ride the filly from post 2 in the first of two 400-yard trials.
FDD Queens Dynastys opponents in the first heat include Zoomin Daphne, a bay filly by Azoom owned and trained by Bruce Ironshirt. Zoomin Daphne has earned $17,547 from five starts this season, and her three victories include a nose win in the 400-yard, $29,000 Adequan Grande Prairie Derby Challenge at Evergreen Park on July 26.
A total of 14 3-year-olds have been entered in the Canada Cup Derby trials. The fastest qualifiers will face off in the $15,000-added final on September 14.
