LETHBRIDGE, LAB—AUGUST 29, 2014—Stakes winner Pro Rockstar is one of 35 2-year-olds entered in Sunday’s 350-yard Canada Cup Futurity (RG3) trials at the Rocky Mountain Turf Club in Lethbridge.

A sorrel son of the Ronas Ryon stallion Promised Class, Pros Rockstar has won both of his outs for his owners, Billie Bird, Sandra Nicklom, and trainer Laurie Ferguson. The gelding is coming off of a half-length victory as the odds-on favorite in the 330-yard $56,000 Alberta Stallion Futurity (R) at Northlands Park on July 23.

Tyler Walker will ride Pros Rockstar from post 7 in the second of five trials.

Stella Wave, a filly by champion Wave Carver leased by Janis D. Calton, will be ridden by Larris Allen from post 3 in the third heat. Trained by Kurt Calton, Stella Wave is just 12 days removed from her half-length victory in the 300-yard, $32,000 Bonnet Brodon Futurity at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie.

The fastest qualifiers from Sunday’s trials will meet in the $40,000-added Canada Cup Futurity final on September 14.
