Fastest Qualifier Cashing Teller Draws Post 5 for Rich Speedhorse Futurity Final

TULSA, OK—JULY 24, 2014—Fastest qualifier Cashing Teller, a homebred Furrtreeous gelding owned by Curtis Smith and Sheila Reed, drew post 5 for Saturday’s 350-yard, $171,650 Speedhorse Gold & Silver Cup Futurity (G2) at Fair Meadows at Tulsa.

One of four finalists qualified by trainer Rodney Reed, Cashing Teller scored a half-length victory in the fifth of eight trials on July 12. The gelding has won two of his three starts and has earned $20,742.

Richard Joneson’s Play Harder, a homebred Furrtreeous colt trained by Clinton Crawford and the second-fastest qualifier, drew the rail post. Play Harder has banked $14,464 from three outs, and he ran second to Cashing Teller in the fifth trial. Also on Saturday, a full field of 10 3-year-olds -- including fastest qualifier Delightful Cat -- has been entered back in the 350-yard, $50,350 Speedhorse Gold & Silver Cup Derby.

A homebred daughter of Red Storm Cat and a stakes winner during the 2013 Fair Meadows meet, Delightful Cat won the first of two trials on July 12 for her owners, Joyce McClennen and Troy McClennen. Rodney Reed trains the filly, who will be ridden by Agustin Silva from post 4 on Saturday.

Wade Helton’s Marcar, the second-fastest qualifier and 5-2 morning-line favorite, drew post 10. Conditioned by Alfredo Gomez, the gelded son of Carters Cartel won the second Speedhorse Derby trial for his fourth victory in 17 career outs.
