VINTON, LA—APRIL 24, 2014—A full field of 10 Louisiana-bred sprinters has been entered in Saturday’s 350-yard, $50,000 John Alleman Memorial Stakes (RG3) at Delta Downs.

Open Me A Corona, the 2-1 morning-line favorite, scored a 1 1/2-length victory in the March 1, $35,000 Mr Jess Perry Stakes (R) at Louisiana Downs in his most recent out. The 4-year-old Coronas Leaving You stallion is owned by Charles Forbes Jr. and Tommy Hays and is trained by Bobby Martinez.

Open Me A Corona has won five of six races, including two of three at Delta Downs, and he has earned $499,198. The stallion won his first four outs, including the $1-million LQHBA Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Downs in 2012, the state-s richest Quarter Horse race.

Open Me A Corona will be ridden by David Alvarez from post 4.

Other contenders include T Boy C, who will be making the first start of his 4-year-old campaign. A gelded son of Sir Runaway Dash racing for Angel Alberto Lopez from the barn of trainer Miguel Rodriguez, T Boy C is coming off of a neck victory against state-bred 3-year-olds in the December 14, $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Derby (RG3) at Fair Grounds Racecourse in New Orleans.

All told, T Boy C has earned $232,609 from 14 outs, and his six wins include a victory as the odds-on favorite in last year’s 400-yard, $50,000 Vinton Stakes (RG3) at Delta Downs.

Raul Ramirez Jr. has been named to ride T Boy C from post 2 in the Alleman Memorial.
