VINTON, LA—MAY 24, 2013—Jesse Rodrigues, Jr.'s maiden two-year-old Bradys March Madness has been set as the 5-2 morning-line favorite to win Saturday’s $271,460 Louisiana Breeders' Laddie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs.
Even though the Jess Louisiana Blue gelding finished third in his last start, a neck off the fastest two qualifiers in the May 4 trials after hopping at start, he put in a strong performance with a late rush. In his prior start he was a close second in the $282,000 Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) at Louisiana Downs.
Miguel Rodriguez conditions the maiden who is 0-1-2 in three starts with earnings of $50,542. Regular rider Raul Ramirez, Jr. qualified four finalists in the trials and chose Bradys March Madness as his futurity horse.
Luciano Rodriguez’s Run Daddy Run (8-1) topped the 13 Laddie trials when he won the seventh heat by a neck in :16.815. The Sir Runaway Dash colt is a member of the Joseph Vacca barn and prepared for the trials with a third-place finish in a Louisiana Downs maiden race.
Frank Cavazos will start Tf Toast To Beduino (4-1) off a 1-¾ length trial win for owner Ramon Martinez. Eddie Cox rides the Struttin To Beduino colt who is looking for his second career win.
Jose Luis Ozuna’s Nealy Bug (5-1) has won two straight races. He came into the trials off a maiden victory at Louisiana Downs for trainer Miguel Rodriguez to win his Laddie trial by a half-a-length. Saul Ramirez, Jr. will be up.
