“I am excited to be gathering information for next year’s Bank of America Challenge Regional Races. Next year will be a great year for the program," AQHA Chief Racing Officer Janet VanBebber said. "We are resuming a full schedule. Also, now that there is more uniformity amongst jurisdictions regarding medication, it will be easier for Challenge enrolled horses to cross state lines and be competitive."

Prospective Challenge races that racetracks can request to become a regional host for include:

  • Bank of America Championship Challenge (minimum amount required by track $15,000) Challenge Added $20,000 3-Year-Olds and older 440yards
  • Adequan Derby Challenge (minimum amount required by track $10,000) Challenge Added $15,000 3-Year-Olds 400yards
  • John Deere Juvenile Challenge (minimum amount required by track $10,000) Challenge Added $15,000 2-Year-Olds 350yards

  • Distance Challenge (minimum amount required by track $7,500) Challenge Added $7,500 3-Year-Olds and older 870yards

"I think people will support the Regionals due to the excitement of the lucrative Challenge Championships being conducted for the first time at The Downs at Albuquerque," VanBebber continued. "If you’ve never participated in the Challenge in its 25 year history, let this be your first year!"

To be considered as a 2019 Bank of America® Challenge regional race host, applications must be returned to the Racing Department at AQHA by December 1st, 2018 .

The AQHA Racing Challenge Regional Schedules are expected to be released in early 2019 to give owners and trainers time to plan racing schedules for their Challenge Enrolled horses.
