SELMA, TX—JULY 24, 2018—Partykrasher, a gelded son of Krash Cartel owned by Bennie and Teresa Jeter, is one of 21 3-year-olds entered in Friday’s 400-yard Adequan Retama Park Derby Challenge trials at Retama Park.
Partykrasher is coming off of a Sam Houston Race Park spring meet during which the homebred gelding won two races, including a 250-yard, $9,200 non-winners-of-two allowance dash on May 4. Partykrasher drew post 2 and will be ridden by Noe Villatoro for trainer Jimmy Padgett in the first of three trials.
Jorge Haddad’s Droff, a homebred son of champion FDD Dynasty trained by Alonso Neri, drew the rail post and will be ridden by Luis Vivanco in the second heat. Droff will be making his first-ever start at Retama off of his second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner SR Shambles, in the 350-yard, $70,000 Old South Derby at Delta Downs on May 11.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 18, $25,000-added Adequan Retama Park Derby Challenge final.
