GILLETTE, WY—JUNE 16, 2018—Colorado-bred Jrs Blue Boy posted a new track record Saturday when he defeated Genuine Version by ¾'s of a length in the $15,125 Energy Downs Bonus Challenge Stakes at Energy Downs.

Under jockey Rene Lopez, Jrs Blue Boy covered the 350 yards in :17.199 seconds, a 114-speed index, with a 10 mph tailwind.

The previous record of :17.346 seconds was set one day earlier (June 15, 2018) by Acadillac in the K.C. Carden Memorial . Prior to that the 350 yard record set July 7, 1990 by Red Ace Of Diamond had stood 27 years.

Trainer Riley Moosman saddled the homebred for owner/breeder Sam Allie. Allie bred the 5-year-old Fantastic Corona Jr gelding from the Dash Ta Fame mare Lil Blue Blitz. The multiple stakes winner picked up $6,277 to boost his lifetime mark to $53,324.

Also a multiple stakes winner, runner-up Genuine Version races for owners Gary Laramie and Janet Oakerson. Chad Giles conditions the Utah-bred son of Winners Version out of Audy B Flyin by Genuine Strawfly. Bred by Allreds Horse Haven, Genuine Version earned $3,250. Jose Guzman was up.

Close throughout, Fantastic Minion picked up $1,739 for his third-place effort. Jay Pitcher saddled the Fantastic Corona Jr 4-year-old for owners Kirk Woolf and Ralph Hartline. Woolf bred the buckskin gelding in Utah from the Dash To Chivato mare Gigarad. Frank Johnson was riding.

Wanna Be Fierce, Rj Griggs and Downside Embezzler completed the field.
