Mr King Cartel Duels for Win in Bank of America NHRA Bonus Challenge at Brown County Fair

ABERDEEN, SD—MAY 26, 2018—Mr King Cartel, with Jeramie Fennell aboard, pulled ahead to win by a neck in the $4,650 Bank of America NHRA Bonus Challenge (not black-type) at Brown County Fair on Saturday.

Final time for the 350-yard race was 17.830; Mr King Cartel ($9.80) earned a 100 speed index.

Mr King Cartel is a 4-year-old North Dakota bred gelding by Carters Cartel. He was bred by his owner, David Wisdom, out of the Royal Shake Em mare Shake Em Diva.

Bob Johnson trained not only Mr King Cartel but the top three finishers in the Challenge final. Mr King Cartel’s stablemates, Fast Eddys Eyeyinyou and Spark Eye Jess, finished second and third respectively.

Fast Eddys Eyeyinyou and Anselmo Padilla broke on top, dueled with Mr King Cartel, and conceded at the wire, but still finished a length in front of Spark Eye Jess.

Fast Eddys Eyeyinyou is owned by Jill LaCroix and was bred in South Dakota by June Lacroix. He is by Eye Yin You and is out of Briefcase Cash, by Dashing With Cash.

The 9-year-old gray gelding has now made 46 lifetime starts, picked up 12 wins, and has career earnings in excess of $60,000.

Completing the Johnson trifecta was Spark Eye Jess and jockey Rey Cabrera Vargas. Spark Eye Jess is also owned by Jill LaCroix and was bred by June LaCroix in South Dakota. The 5-year-old gelding is by Jess Eye, out of the Its Royal Time mare Oopsydaisybaby.

Completing the field were Ramblin On in Style, Briefcase of Ivory and Ms Veronica.
