AUBURN, WA—AUGUST 17, 2017—In a crowded field of 12 starters Sunday afternoon at Emerald Downs, Cm Boom Shakalaka drifted in early before putting one-length on I Deliver to win the $20,160 John Deere Emerald Juvenile Challenge.

Ridden by jockey Luis Gonzalez, the Carters Cartel gelding completed the 350 yards in :17.958 seconds, a 98-speed index with an 8-mph tailwind, to get his third win in four starts this season. His only loss came in the Bitterroot Futurity last June when he hopped at the start.

Nick Lowe saddled the bay gelding for owner/breeder Randy Dickerson. Out of the Dash Ta Fame mare Mi Fames A Dandy, Cm Boom Shakalaka picked up $8,870 to bring his bankroll total to $13,681.

Sunday's win also earned the Oregon-bred a starting position in the $130,000 Guaranteed John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Prairie Meadows October 14th during the Bank of America Challenge Championships.

Chris Philbrook's I Deliver picked up $4,032 for finishing second. Hector Magallanes trains the One Sweet Jess gelding out of Go Girl Gone by Shazoom. Eduardo Gutierrez-Sosa was riding the Michael and Shannon McKay Oregon-bred Grants Pass Futurity winner.

Warhock, owned-and-trained by Freddy Ibarra, finished three-quarters back in third. Ridden by Jake Samuels, the son of Zoomin For Bux earned $2,016. Hayden Brothers Ranch bred the sorrel gelding in Oregon from the Corona Cartel mare Copa Show Girl.

Sweet Dream Demon, Lil Attitude, L Bar D Razle Dazle, Bunnys Best Advise, Dont Hezitate, Sharps, L Bar D Classic Trip, Diva Has It and Insperable Two completed the field.
