Hyho Travio Breaks Maiden, Sets Top Mark in Sun Downs Challenge Trials

KENNEWICK, WA—APRIL 19, 2014—Hyho Travio, bred-owned-and-trained by Steve Dickinson, defeated Midway Monster by a neck to post the top qualifying time for the Sun Downs Maiden Challenge on Saturday afternoon.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from two trials held for AQHA Racing Challenge enrolled 3-year-old and up maidens at time of nomination, will return the Pacific Northwest racetrack on Saturday, May 3 and vie for the winner's share of a $10,000-added purse at 350 yards.

Ridden by jockey Eduardo Sosa, Hyho Travio broke his maiden by completing the course in :18.320 seconds to get he top qualifying mark. Dickinson bred the Get Down Perry colt in Oregon from the Gold Case (TB) mare Queen Tango (TB). He has compiled a (7) 1-2-0 record.

Midway Monster, who brushed at the break, held on for the second fastest time of :18.370 seconds. Juan Sanguine conditions the Jet Black Patriot 3-year-old, from the Royal Quick Dash mare Dream Mirage, for owner Ramiro Cancino. Bred in Oklahoma by J. Garvin Kelly and Nancy Yearsley, Midway Monster was making his first start in the Northwest after being stabled at Los Alamitos since last November. Tad Skaggs had the riding assignment.

Cm Undertainfluence broke his maiden in the second trial with an impressive half-length win over Wings Like Eagles. The Randy Dickerson homebred daughter of Dash Ta Fame qualified to three futurities last season and has earned $11,783. Nick Lowe conditions the bay miss out of Mo Beda Chick, by Beda Cheng. Troy Stillwell was up to get the fourth fastest time of :18.490.
