GUSTINE, CA—FEBRUARY 24, 2010—David Gonzalez, owner of Balboa Bay, announced today he will award a "lifetime breeding" to the first breeder of a Los Alamitos stakes winner sired by the son of Corona Cartel.
"All breeders's who book mares to Balboa Bay will become eligible to win a lifetime breeding to him," Gonzalez said on Wednesday. "We are getting a great response to his first season and would like to reward owners for breeding their best mares," he added.
Balboa Bay, who won or placed in three of four starts at 2, is by the #2 Leading Living Sire of Money Earners and out of the multiple grade 1 finalist Strawberry Dash, a First Down Dash full sister to Champion and World champion sire Stoli.
His second dam is AQHA Racing champion two-year-old and two-year-old filly Strawberry Silk, an earner of more than $1.26 million with wins that included the All American Futurity(G1). She has also produced grade 3 winner Rousing Encore (a full-sister to Stoli and Strawberry Dash), grade 3 winner Pappasito and stakes winner Cashington. Pappasito is by Corona Cartel making him a ¾ brother to Balboa Bay.
Balboa Bay stands at Las Higueras Farm, near Gustine, California, for a fee of $1,000. Special consideration will be made to stakes mares and multiple mare bookings. Stakes producers can breed for free.
