BOSQUE, NM—AUGUST 6, 2018—Multiple graded stakes sire Rock Solid Jess SI 109 was euthanized last month due to complications arising from laminitis.

A 13-year-old son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry, Rock Solid Jess won or placed in 12 of his 19 career starts while earning $253,214. He won the Grade 1 Dash For Cash Futurity was 2nd in the Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational and a finalist in the Rainbow Derby(G1), Texas Classic Derby(G1), West Texas Futurity(G1), Heritage Place Derby(G1) and Hobbs America Derby(G2).

Bred in Oklahoma by Henry Brown, Rock Solid Jess raced for Jack Manning and was conditioned by Mike Wakefield. He was owned by Manning Interests.

From limited starters in seven crops to reach racing age, Rock Solid Jess is represented by 63 winners(62%), 22 stakes horses (22%), 1 champion, progeny earnings in excess of $2.7 million with average earnings per starter of over $27,400.

The second dam is the multiple stakes producing Kingdom Key mare Tetons Dawn, a half-sister to G1 winner Totally Illegal SI 105 ($147,160).

With only seven starters, Rock Solid Jess ranked 9th among first-crop sires in 2012 by progeny earnings. He was 12th second-crop sire nationally in 2013 and 14th third-crop sire in 2014.

Rock Solid Jess begin his stallion career at Lazy E Ranch in Guthrie, Oklahoma before standing at Rockin J Running Horses in Gatesville, Texas. Owned by Manning Interest and JMC Ranches LLC he stood in New Mexico at the time of his death.
