My First Moon Gets First Stakes Winner

Q-RACING JOURNAL—SEPTEMBER 30, 2014—My First Moon got his first stakes winner on September 28 when First Ginlark won the $39,420 John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge. My First Moon is owned by Alejandro Moya of Edcouch, Texas.

First Ginlark races for Dustin Cox of Duncan, Oklahoma, and is out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Ginlark Perry. The winner of three of seven career starts, the filly has earned $37,156.

My First Moon is a 14-year-old sorrel son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash and out of the Special Effort mare Moon Sign Special. My First Moon’s dam is a half sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Quick Moon Sign ($419,781).

Bred by Henry Brown, My First Moon was four-times placed in his 11-race career, including contesting the 2002 Heritage Place Juvenile Invitational (R).

He has sired 18 starters, with seven returning as winners, with average earnings of $7,107 per starter.

My First Moon stands at 2 Broke 2 Ranch in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
