LQHBA Announces Increases For Louisiana-Bred Stallion Awards

ALEXANDRIA, LA—JULY 10, 2014—During it's June meeting, the LQHBA's Board of Directors voted to increase their annual Stallion Awards, for accredited Louisiana-bred stallions, in 2015 from $344,000 per year to $500,000. The increase will begin with races that are run from July 1, 2014 thru June 30, 2015.

"We have some of the finest stallions in the world in Louisana and this is a well-deserved 45% increase in our Stallion Awards program," LQHBA Executive Director Tony Patterson said Thursday. "This increase will benefit our Louisiana-Bred Program," he added.

One of the best state-bred programs in the country, Louisana offers a minimum of 148 guaranteed Quarter Horse racing days with annual purses in excess of $22 million. They have the first and only restricted G1 state-bred $1 million race—the LQHBA Breeders' Futurity. In addition the state offers six Louisiana-bred futurities, two Louisiana-bred derbies and three $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day races each year.

"We are extremely proud of our stallions and our entire Louisiana-Bred program," Patterson says.
