Hes Too Icy For Me Tops Qualifiers for Grade 1 West Texas Futurity

SUNLAND PARK, NM—APRIL 2, 2010—Dolores and Robert Gerhardt's Hes Too Icy For Me pulled away from Dash Back Ocean to post the fastest qualifying time for the $100,000-added West Texas Futurity(G1) on Friday afternoon.

The ten fastest qualifiers from the 11 trials races that saw 108 two-year-olds go to the post will return on April 18th to contest the 52nd running of the 300 yard futurity.

First Class Lacy B, under Coady Jensen, runs her record to two straight.
Saddled by Carlos Sedillo, the $36,000 Ruidoso Sale Yearling won the ninth trial (race 10) by ½ length. He completed the course in :14.851 to earn a 102 speed index in his career debut. Oscar Rincon was aboard the First Down Dash colt bred by Vessels Stallion Farm, LLC and D M Cattle Company.

Finding Itentity (#5) leads The Mentalist (#3), Fast Movin Vic (#2) and Rhinestone Cowboy (#10) in to the finals.
First Class Lacy B ran her career record to a perfect 2-for-2 with a powerful one-length victory in the 10th trial. The Mr Jess Perry filly owned by Bielau Oaks came into the trials highly touted after a 1 ¾ maiden debut win at Sunland on March 7th.

John Stinebaugh trains and Cody Jensen was aboard for the :14.868 clocking, also a 102 speed index. Out of the multiple stakes winning First Down Dash mare Tiny First Effort, First Class Lacy B was bred in Texas by Molly B Morris.

The aforementioned Dash Back Ocean held on for the third fastest time of :14.926. A $20,000 Heritage Place repurchase by his breeder/owner Johnny Trotter, the colt is by second crop sire Ocean Runaway out of Dash Back To Me, by Dash For Cash. G. Blane Wood saddled the gray colt that was making his career debut. Ricky Ramriez got the riding call.

Ocean Runaway also sired fourth fastest qualifier, Finding Identity, a $12,500 Ruidoso Sale Yearling, who won the third trial in :14.966. Saddled by Ralph Muniz for Adan Reyes, the gray colt was ridden by Oscar Rincon. Blaine Bateman bred Finding Identity in Utah from the Pie In The Sky mare Fittin Genes.

First crop sires Mighty Invictus and Finding Nemo each got their first grade 1 finalists in Friday's trials.
