Fast Chick Beduino Returns With Big Effort in Longhorn Derby Trials

MANOR, TX—MARCH 7, 2010—Fast Chick Beduino returned to the track Sunday afternoon with a 1 ½ length victory in the second of five trials to the $150,000-est. Longhorn Derby at Manor Downs.

The ten fastest qualifiers will contest the grade 2 finale on March 21st.

Owned and bred by Jorge Meraz, Fast Chick Beduino kicked off her career last season at Manor Downs with a two length win in the Longhorn Futurity(G1) trials. She then returned to take the $221,000 final by 1 ½ lengths.

The Dashin Is Easy filly, trained by Frank Cavazos, started only once more last season when she placed third in the Texas Classic Futurity(G1) trials after a rough start.

Primed and ready for action on Sunday afternoon, Fast Chick Beduino, completed the 350 yard course in :17.898 seconds under jockey Juan Vazquez. Her record now stands as 3-0-1 from four starts and earnings in excess of $100,000.

Nancys Ocean, a daughter of champion Ocean Runaway who went 1-1-1 in nine starts last year, won the third trial by 1 ¾ lengths in a time of :17.916. Racing for Juan Velasco and saddled by Earl Armstrong, the gray miss was ridden by David Alvarez. She was the fourth fastest qualifier to the Longhorn Futurity(G1) last year, finishing fourth in the finals after being bumped from both side.

Racing for owner/breeder Carlos Bejarano, Miss Snow Royal won the final trial by ½ length over fellow qualifiers Johnny One and Okasetti. Trained by Paul Ramirez and ridden by J.R. Ramirez, she earned the third fastest clocking of :17.956.

Trainer Ramirez also qualified Dashing Through Snow and Shazooms Golden Boy. Jockey J.R. Ramirez was aboard Dashing Through Snow as well as eighth qualifier Debs Rqd.
