MANOR, TX—MARCH 6, 2010—Simply Cool Stables Brady Mountain Beau defeated Corona N Heart by one length in the seventh of 11 trials for the grade 2 Longhorn Futurity on Saturday afternoon at Manor Downs.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday's trials on opening day will return on March 20th to contest the $50,000-added 300 yard finale.
Robert Touchet saddled Brady Mountain Beau who completed the 300 yards in :15.772 second to earn a 90 speed index. The colt by The Corona out of the Strawfly Special mare Flower Of Paradise was ridden by David Alvarez.
Bb Azoom won the first trial by a nose over Giorgino for the second and third top times. Bb Azoom is an Azoom filly owned and bred by Enrique Carrion. Paul Ramirez handles the filly who clocked a :15.819 with J.R. Ramirez riding. The owner, trainer and jockey trio also teamed for the eighth qualifier, Make Mine Zoom, a colt by Azoom.
Giorgino, home-bred Apollo TB colt out of Las Alamtios for Jorge Haddad, stopped the timer at :15.832. He is a half-brother to last year's Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Ragazzo, also owned by Haddad.
Maria Guadalupe Araiza's Ocean Runaway colt, Mystical Ocean B, won the eighth trial by 1 ¼ lengths to post the fourth fastest time of :15.839. Rodolfo Sanchez trains with Ramirez in the irons. Ramirez ended the day with four finalists.
Corona N Hearts, owned by Juan Carlos Castaneda, who finished second to the fastest heat is by first crop sire La Jollaroid. Another first crop sire, Winners Award, had two trial winners and qualifiers in Winners Ignition owned by Victor Gonzalez and Dusty Award racing for Jose Menchaca.

Editors Note: Texas Kool, a colt by First N Kool won the third Longhorn Futurity trial by 1-1/4 lengths in a time of :15.850, placing him fifth on the top ten list.
