San Lorenzo Ivory Gets Second Career Stakes Victory In Texas Classic Juvenile

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 19, 2022—San Lorenzo Ivory, a $52,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate, got his second career stakes win Saturday night when he easily defeated a strong field in the $63,640 Texas Classic Juvenile at Lone Star Park.

Under jockey Juan Pulido San Lorenzo Ivory dueled early then pulled away to defeat Relentless Pressure by three-quarters. His time of :19.365 seconds equaled a 97 speed index over a fast racing surface.  The brown gelding picked up $28,320 for his effort tonight.

Trainer Santo Carrizales, Jr. conditions the son of leading sire Ivory James for owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr.  Bred in Oklahoma by Charlotte and Brett Northam, from the Heza Fast Mare Ashleys Gold Digger, San Lorenzo Ivory won the Remington Park Oklahoma -Bred Futurity(RG1) and was second in the Easy Jet Stakes at Remington Park earlier this year. He has won five of eight starts and banked $357,241.

Racing for owner-breeder Ted G. Abrams, Sr., Relentless Pressure picked up $19,092 for second. M. Heath Taylor trains the Hes Relentless half-brother to two-time world champion Jessies First Down. Out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess A Classy Lassy, Relentless Pressure has earned $37,432 in seven starts.

Kj Wicked Wanda finished three-quarter back to earn $9,546 for third. Wesley Giles named Adrian Ramos to ride the Arizona bred daughter of Apollitical Sprit for owners John Lee, Kathy Lee and Ruben Mares. The John and Kathy Lee homebred is out of KJ Hotflash by First Moonflash. Winner of the Four Corners Futurity earlier this year, the sorrel filly has earned $84,779 in seven starts.

Sweet Emylou, Sir Rodney C, Tyger King, Jmg Apollitical Capo, Tres Crystals and Big Dream Baby completed the field. Dakota Gurl was scratched.
