PHOENIX, AZ—NOVMEBER 16, 2022—Stakes winner One Wild Cartel raced to his third consecutive win while setting the fastest qualifying time from five trials contested on Wednesday for the AQRA-Turf Paradise Open Quarter Horse Futurity.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Arizona racetrack on Thursday, December 8th to vie for the winner's share of a $60,000-est. purse going 350 yards.

Under jockey Mark Jasso, One Wild Card broke well and took an early lead, which he held under pressure from The Rev Rocker, winning by three-quarters in the top time of :17.341 seconds, a 107 speed index with a 9 mph tailwind.

Trainer Ernesto Gonzalez saddled the son of multiple stakes sire Five Bar Cartel for owner Kevin Vazquez. Winner of the Arizona Downs Futurity in his last start, September 3, the Louisiana-bred One Wil Cartel is out of Wild N Fast by Tac It Like A Man. Wild N Fast Racing LLC bred the earner of $49,184 after four wins in six starts.

West Texas Juvenile Stakes runner-up Lake Havasu got her third win of the year in opening trial to post the second fastest clocking of :17.422 seconds, a 105 speed index with a 9 mph tailwind. The daughter of multiple stakes sire Seperate Interest was an easily 2-3/4 length winner under jockey Omar Iturralde.

Also third in the La Fiesta Futurity in her last start and a finalist in the Four Corners Futurity Lake Havasu is owned-and-trained by Osman Iturralde. Steve D. Burns, DVM bred the $63,489 earner in California from the Foose mare No Arizona.
