Pretty Lethal Eagle Impresses In Maiden Victory, Sets Top Mark For Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes

PHOENIX, AZ—NOVMEBER 8, 2022—Starting off a second-place effort in a maiden at Albuquerque September 16, Pretty Lethal Eagle got her first career win in impressive fashion Tuesday afternoon at Turf Paradise.

Under jockey Joseph Belloc, Jr. the daughter of leading sire One Fabuous Eagle raced to a two-length win in the third of four trials for the $25,000-added Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes (not black type). Her time of :17.815 seconds, a  93 speed index into a an 8mph headwind, was the fastest of the day.

Trainer Rigoberto Guillen conditions the 3-year-old filly for owner Joseph Belloc. Third in the Arizona Downs Futurity last year and a finalist in the Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes last January she has earned $14,838 from an (8) 2-2-1 record.

Veronica Gail Kawananakoa bred the brown filly in California from the First Down Dash mare Pretty Lethal.

Guillen also sent out second fastest qualifier Lady Quic Cartel, a 1-1/4 length winner in the second trial under jockey Jorge Ayon-Quevedo. The daughter of leading sire Corona Cartel clocked :17.882 seconds, a 91 speed index into an 8mph headwind.

Santos Montemayor is the owner-breeder of the California-bred filly from the Separatist mare Quic Jess. She has banked $9,464 in seven career starts.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Turf Paradise on Saturday, December 3 to vie for the winner's share of $25,000-added purse going 350 yards.
