EDMONTON, AB—OCTOBER 23, 2021—Wave Burner earned his first career stakes in Saturday night in the $69,348(US) Canada Cup Quarter Horse Futurity (RG3).

Wave Burner ($8.50) and Silvino Morales led from the gate and finished first by a neck in :20.427 for the 400-yard stake over a sloppy track. The pair earned a 78 speed index.

The Wave Carver gelding is owned by Jeffrey Rath and is trained by Wesley Oulton, who also bred him in Alberta, out of First Prize Sass, by First Timber. He won his trial on October 8 and was the second fastest qualifier.

Wave Burner has never finished out of the money in four starts at Century Mile, and he is two for eight lifetime with $44,077 earned. In September, he qualified for the Alberta Bred Futurity (RG3) and finished third in the final.

Bringontherush and D.I. Benitez finished second for trainer Darcy Hawkes. Dale Zukowski owns and bred the Wave Carver gelding in Alberta, out of Sls Dashing Corona, by Dashin Is Easy.

Bringontherush has made four lifetime starts, all at Century Mile. He won his debut and qualified for the Alberta Bred Futurity (RG3), finishing fourth. He was second in his Canada Cup trial as the fifth fastest qualifier.

Our Storm Chaser placed third in the photo finish with J. Botello up for trainer Misael Moreno. Barry and Janice Sather own and bred the gelding in Alberta, by First Timber and out of the Stel Corona mare Enjoy the Corona.

Our Storm Chaser was the ninth fastest qualifier after finishing fifth in his trial, his second lifetime start. He won his debut, an overnight stake on the Alberta Bred Futurity card.

Completing the field were Interes Fino, Pappie Due, Top Shelf 109, Bearcat Bill, She Wears the Pantz, Obsessive Gambler and First Golden Rose.
