De Capitator Bar Earns First Stakes Win in Cherry Creek Futurity at Arapahoe

AURORA, CO—JULY 13, 2019—Second fastest qualifier De Capitator Bar won in gate-to-wire fashion to earn his first career stakes win in the $96,370 Cherry Creek Futurity at Arapahoe on Saturday afternoon.

Martin Lasalde was aboard for the colt’s victory in the 330-yard stake. The final time was 17.190 and resulted in a speed index of 86.

De Capitator Bar ($13.60) is trained by Mark Schultz for owner Dana Lichlyter, who also bred the colt with Tom Lichlyter. The Capo de Capi colt is out of Nikita Ben, by Now I Know. As the second fastest qualifier, he was second in his trial behind Pitchforks Panther and posted a time of 17.213.

This was the third career start and first appearance in a stakes race for De Capitator Bar. He broke his maiden impressively in his recent career debut last month at Arapahoe.

Dg Dreamer and jockey Armando Ramirez finished in second place by a head. The One Dashing Eagle filly is trained by Hipolito Michel-Valverde for owners Pedro and Lilia Andazola. She was bred in Colorado by Richard and Genevieve Herrman, out of Iza Sugar N Spice, by Toast to Dash.

Dg Dreamer is still a maiden in four career starts but has qualified for two futurities and is now stakes placed. She was the fourth fastest qualifier and finished third in her trial behind Pitchforks Panther and De Capitator Bar.

Completing the trifecta was Jess A Fly N Miracle with Jonathan Dominguez aboard. Jess a Fly N Miracle was the tenth fastest qualifier and finished second in her trial.

Jess A Fly N Miracle is owned by Lorenzo Alonzo and trained by Jose Villafranco. She was bred by Salvador Alonzo, Jr., by Jess Valentine and out of Fly Like Master, by Fly Jess Fly.

Completing the field were Pitchforks Panther, Wagonfullofdarlings, Skipin to First, Captain Brave, Kina Big Deal and Intocable Cartel.
