Remington Horses Top Fastest Qualifiers to Beehive Futurity in South Jordan

SOUTH JORDAN, UT—JUNE 14, 2019—Racing in the Salt Lake valley continued on Friday with five trials to the $80,127 Beehive Futurity at Laurel Brown. The 350-yard final is scheduled for Friday, June 28.

The fifth and final trial produced the fastest overall qualifier, Centers Valiant Hero. Centers Valiant Hero, with Armando Alvidrez aboard, covered the 350-yard trial in 17.535 and earned a 102 speed index.

This was the fifth career start for the gelding by first-crop sire One Valiant Hero and his first in Utah. Centers Valiant Hero debuted in a trial for the Oklahoma Bred Futurity at Remington Park in March. Though he failed to qualify, he returned in his next start in Oklahoma City to break his maiden, followed by a third place finish in a trial for the Heritage Place Futurity behind Oklahoma Futurity (G2) winner Ec Revenge and then a win in an allowance race.

Centers Valiant Hero is trained by Valentin Arellanes, who co-owns with Mayra Sanchez and Hernando Perez. He was bred in Oklahoma by Carlie Rooney, out of the Spit Curl Jess mare Centercurlincash. He is now three for five lifetime with $24,790 in career earnings.

Arellanes and Alvidrez also teamed up for second fastest qualifier Fleeting Funds, who won the fourth trial with a time of 17.542 and a 102 speed index. Fleeting Funds cleared the rest of the field by over two lengths in the win, his second in four career starts.

Fleeting Funds is owned by Oscar Olivas Najera and was bred in Texas by Curtis Crenwedge. He is by Zoomin For Bux and is out of the Royal Quick Dash mare Quick Way Holme.

The third fastest qualifier, Kool Baby Kool, won the third trial with a time of 17.586. Jesus Canales had the call for trainer Sergio Canales, and Kool Baby Kool earned a 101 speed index in the maiden-breaking effort.

Kool Baby Kool is owned by Casey Whitaker and was bred in California by Steve Burns, DVM, by One Sweet Jess and out of Kool Kue Chick, by Chicks Beduino.

First-crop sire Kiss My Hocks got three finalists to the Beehive Futurity.
