Missus Badger Gets First Win in Jerome's Maiden Frolic Stakes

JEROME, ID—JUNE 9, 2019—Missus Badger, a 3-year-old daughter of multiple stakes sire Stel Corona, broke her maiden Sunday with a half-length win in the $2,500 Maiden Frolic Stakes (not black type) at the Jerome Fair.

Ridden by jockey Jesus Valenzuela, Missus Badger was never headed as she completed the 350 yards in :17.897 seconds, a 94 speed index. It was the first win in seven career starts for the brown filly. The $1,500 winners' purse boosted her earnings total to $2,488.

Jeremy Hoyt conditions the Missus Badger for owner Garret Hoyt. Wade and Tessa Siegel bred the filly in Oregon from the On A High mare Dorothy Nell.

Larry Chapple's Idaho homebred Shes Alright Now finished second for trainer Paul Greene. Jockey Eric Avala had the call aboard the bay daughter of Im Alright Now from the Dash Thru Traffic mare Nothin But The Truth.

Ferrol Cunningham saddled third-place finisher Wavin N Rich, an Oklahoma-bred daughter of Wave Carver for owner Sergio Gil. Vaughn Cook bred the bay mare from the Ivory James mare Ivory Riches. Leonardo Gonzalez was riding.
