RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JUNE 9, 2019—The $100,000 Ruidoso Juvenile, a race for horses who did not qualify for the grade 1 Ruidoso Futurity, was won Sunday afternoon by Brenda Reiswig's homebred Midnight Moonlyte.

Midnight Moonlyte won by one-half length in :17.455 for the 350 yards. Cody Roger Smith was aboard.

A gelding by First Moonflash, Midnight Moonlyte is not eligible to compete in the upcoming trials to the Grade 1, $1-million (est.) Rainbow Futurity or the Grade 1, $3-million All American Futurity.

"We'll save him for the fall," trainer Clint Crawford said. "We've always had high hopes for him. Now we will have a fresh horse in the fall."

Midnight Moonlyte won his maiden in his debut at Remington Park and then was second in his Ruidoso Futurity trial.

Out of the Ivory James mare Midnight Sunshine, Midnight Moonlyte earned $42,000 in the Juvenile to boost this earnings total to $57,440.

Ranch El Cabresto, Inc.'s Apollitical B Beast, a daughter of Apollitical Blood, was second with Alan Hernandez riding for trainer Rodolfo Valles, who scored the derby-futurity double in 2018.

Owned by 21 Partnership, Apollitical B Beast won her maiden in her third start when she took her Ruidoso Futurity trial by three quarters of a length. She is out of the Chicks Beduino Jr mare Chalalag.

Jockey James Flores rode third-place finisher Three Times A Ladye for owner 21 Partnership. Ricardo Armendariz trains the Tres Seis daughter of Grade 2 winner Shesa First Ratify by First Down Dash. Bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox, the gray filly earned $10,000 for the effort.

Fm Dynasty Rock, Rtempting Fortune, Fantsy First Down, Bd Charles In Charger, Cash For Willie and Bodacious Time completed the field.
