Jess Tellin Tales Breaks Maiden In Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity

POCATELLO, ID—MAY 19, 2019—Jess Tellin Tales was never headed as she romped to a half-length victory over Shidacious Sunday afternoon in the $20,050 Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity at Pocatello Downs.

Ridden by jockey Joseph Belloc, Jr., Jess Tellin Tales completed the 300 yards into a 15 mph crosswind in a quick :15.446 seconds, equaling a 103 speed index. It was the first win in two starts for the daughter of first-crop sire Wagon Tales who entered final as the fourth fastest qualifier after a second-place effort in the May 5 trials.

Leading trainer Monty Arrossa saddled the bay filly for owners Cameron and Lean Mullrony. Bred in Oklahoma by Michael and Gail Ahern, from the Mr Jess Perry mare Acting Up For Perry, Jess Tellin Tales earned $8,000 for the effort. Mulroney purchased the filly (under the name Michaels Jesse Wagon) in the September Heritage Place Yearling Sale for $3,500.

Shidacious broke out under jockey Pedro Gonzalez to finish second. Much improved off his fourth-place effort in the trials, the son of multiple stakes sire Bodacious Dash earned $4,000 for second. Trainer Fredy Olmos conditions the sorrel gelding for owner Kade Kendall Keller. Pedro Gonzalez had the riding call aboard the Allreds Horse Haven Utah-bred out of Shi D Anna by Proudest Effort.

Close throughout, fastest qualifier Thrill Of The Cartel was another half-length back to finish third. Mark Hanson trains the Favorite Cartel gelding for Hanson Racing LLC, Robin Dunn and Kevin Dunn. Jesus Canales rode the Texas-bred gelding out of License To Thrill by Mr Jess Perry. Bred by Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches LP, Thrill Of The Cartel earned $2,000 for the effort.

Steffies Dashn, Sassy Sizzler, Shacks Desire, Liquid Courage B, Sheza Tacy Gator and Hocks Fast Wagon completed the field.
